Carmina Urbana

110 years after St James’s Hall was demolished to make way for the Industrial Revolution, 'Carmina Urbana' was a durational video project intending to bring its legendary orchestra back to the ground it was built on. The home of the Philharmonic society and London’s principle concert venue between 1859-1905 is now an anonymous business district, lacking a single trace of the magnificent institution it once was. We brought the music back. Casting oblivious commuters as our instrumentalists, CARMINA URBANA is a durational and interactive video project – designed to restore the (beautiful) past to the present.
